The Process of Printing Currency

 On December 1st 1948, People’s Bank of China had established and begun to issue RMB, symbolizing a new page of China’s currency printing career. With production capacity bigger and bigger, technical merit stronger and stronger, from the design of currency to printing, every process possesses a group of professional technicians with high quality. It ranked first in the world such as production scale, specialized fields etc, as well as the comprehensive strength reached the international level.

  Until 2009, China has designed five sets of RMB, meanwhile she has produced many of special invoice for taxed fee, securities, passport, bank paper, advanced anti-counterfeiting paper and various kinds of anti-forgery ink by the use of currency printing machine and technologies.

   May I know whether you have seen RMB currency of ￥100. It is red, with a portrait of Chairman Mao Zedong in the front cover, the back cover is a picture of landscape. The paper of currency is water marked paper, which is a kind of special paper for currency printing. The kind of paper is produced by China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation (CBPMC) as well as its three subsidiary companies.

When printing the currency, at first there should be a big piece of paper, which can cover 28 pieces of one currency. Then the technician prints the currency first, then paint it in red, just in a short time, they can print lots pieces of paper. When interviewing, we saw that technicians work hard, creating plenty of papers in one time, everyday they work hard and busy, after having printed one side then they will print the other side, in the same process.

At workshop of checking and sealing, there should take two steps of checking currency when checking the currency. At first you should check the large piece of paper, that’s to check one piece and another piece from the printer which are printed with RMB in large scale.

After finishing checking, then it will enter the next process: cut. It means that you have to cut the currency in large scale into small pieces, making it into the same shape as the currency we use at usual time. Next technicians will check whether there is something wrong with the currency or not, e.g. is there anything wrong with numbers when printing, whether the color is well-proportioned, whether the water print is inverted or not.

After the printing plate has been input into the machine, at first you should adapt a kind of yellow paper for proof pressing. Until finished proof press, technicians will take water print machine for formally printing. Because water print paper is such a kind of paper which has been made specially, in order to avoid the false currency maker obtain the paper, usually there is a strict control on the use of the paper in general paper mill. No matter when it has been printed out for formally used or the production rejects during process of printing, technician will manage and recycle this strictly.

Finishing printing, it will be sent to workshop of checking and sealing, quality testing workers will check the quality of each currency under the light from http://www.dinodirect.com/light-bulbs/. The whole process of currency printing can be divided into several basic steps: paper checking, prepress processing and plate making, proof typography, formal typography, quality checking, cut, seal etc. Thus the RMB currency has formed, which has been widely used in our everyday life.

After the whole process, the currency will be sent to workshop, when technicians make sure that there is nothing wrong with it, then the currency will be sealed. After that the currency will be sent to bank, society for circulation and transaction.
